サマータイムの計算が間違ってました汗。日本の方はサマータイムが始まるとディスカッションクラスは１時間早くなるんですがバンクーバーはそのまま同じ時間で、もし日本の方の時間に今まで通り合わせるなら私は１時間寝坊できるはず。紙工作で大小、丸い時計を２つ作ってやっと納得しました。
というわけで、老人と海のディスカッション行ってきました！予習してる時はなんかむず〜とか思ってたんですが他の方の質問とか聞いてるうちにだんだん理解できてきました。いつも読んでて、なんで分かんないのかが分からない時や意味は分かるけどなんか状況がピンとこないことがよくあるんですが、こういう場で他の人の疑問や考えなど聞けると自分の理解力も高まるのでとても助かります。このクラスのスタイルはいいですよね。今日一緒だったみなさん、お疲れさまでした。また来週もよろしくお願いします:)

ジュリーのブログにお知らせがあって、2月の26日から新しいブッククラブのクラスが始まるらしいです。今回の本はヘミングウェイの "老人と海"。
前回の On Purpose Person は途中でサマータイムが終わってしまい時間的に参加できなくなってしまったんで今度こそ最後まで参加したいと思います。前回はディスカッショングループから抜けて一人で音読し終えたんですがつらかったです。皆さんが着々と進んでいくのを知って私もやらなきゃぁと思うんだけど一人だとなかなかやる気がおきない。。。あっという間に3週間1ページも読まなかった、なんてザラでした。1週間にたったの1時間、されど1時間、ですね。どなたか興味あるかたがいらしたら是非サインアップしてくださーい!

TOIECの模試
先週末はネットで古いバーションのTOIECの模試をしました。B判定の810点でした。ずば抜けて間違えた所はPart 6 誤文訂正問題 （Error Recognition） 5/10 50%ですって。がーん。でもこのパートは今のTOIECにはないし、気にしないでいっか、なんて思ったり。。。でもスティーブと会話してても、ものすごい勢いで間違えているのでやっぱりここは一つ文法書をおさらいしておいた方がいいのかも？
というわけでGrammar in Use Intermediateを始めました。この本はこっちに来た当初、日本で買って来た文法書や”とっさのなんとか〜”と言うたぐいの本じゃお話にならない、という現実にかなりショックを受けた後に購入して一通り解いてたんです。その当時はかなり解くのに時間がかかった割に正解率高いじゃん、ってかんじで。付属のCDを何度も聞いて練習して一通り感覚がつかめたのでほったらかしに。あれからもう４年も経ってるし、ちょっとは回答率もあがっているんじゃないかなぁと思いきや、間違える問題はまったく一緒！という、ちょ〜ショッキングな結果が！読んで解くスピードは格段にアップしてるんだけど。。。これってもしかするとこの無意識に間違えている部分を克服しない限りこれ以上勉強してもなかなか９００を超えないっていう事なんじゃないかなぁ、とふと思いました。でも間違えた所を復習してみると間違えてると言うよりうっかり勘違いしてるという感じなのでやってて結構楽しいです。文法が楽しいって、、、今までには考えられなかったのに！！続けるって大事ですね。

I choose to learn Spanish as a new year's resolution. I started studying Spanish a few days ago. I choose the spanish version of The Power of the Linguist in LingQ. I started listening from Part one to three. As soon as I listened it about one hour, I got bored. I started to review words even though I'm very slow to remember. Then I listened again, I could better listen what they said. Now my study routine worked again with Spanish. I had a sense of how to get used to a new language, and I have a little bit of hope to continue to study. Let's see how it goes.

遅ればせながら新年の抱負を。言うのはやめようと思ったんですが、スペイン語をやってみようかなぁなんて思ってます。去年メキシコのカンクンに旅行へ行ってからずーっと分かるようになりたいなぁと思ってたんですが先週、ついに始めました。LingQでPower of the Linguistを選んで英語と同じようにコツコツやってます。実は去年、スペイン語の本を買って挫折し、iTuneでスペイン語入門のビデオを見ては挫折し、やっぱり私にはだめかもぉなんて思ってたんですがやっぱりこのシステムはすごーい。Work Desk とVocabularyを行き来してるだけなのになんか見つからなかったパズルのピースがどんどん見つかってく感じじゃないですか。という訳で結構面白くなってきたのでもしかしたらもしかするかも、なんて思って新年の抱負にしちゃいました。またズドーンと超えられそうにない壁にぶち当たるんだろうなぁ、とは思いますがそれよりすでに頭の中が夢のようなカリブ海でいっぱいです笑。

I had a great time in Japan. I could see beautiful colorful autumn trees and I had a wonderful time with my family.
The security and service of YVR airport has improved a lot since the last time when I went to Japan. They have translation service at enter the country. What I was surprising most is they took care of me when I was waiting alone for my husband picking up our luggage. If I was really alone in a foreign country and one of security woman had a short talk with me, I would be glad.
Another thing I had impression was a man sitting next to me in the air plane was zero English person. A stewardess asked him to move the other seat because they found more space for him and me but he doesn't understand at all. We had movies on the seatback but there were no language available for him. I thought it's unfair for him to use the airline. Also, other person couldn't fill in a landing card and asked me to about it. I wonder how to survive them in foreign country from now on but, I was exactly the same as them. It is an thoughtful experience. My English is enough to manage myself and it's enough to take care of foreign people in Japan but still it's not enough to care others at here. I need to practice more. I feel it's a long way to go.

My winter vacation starts this Saturday. I would record Steve book as much as I can.

I go to Japan next Friday for a wedding of my brother in law. I'm going to wear Kimono for the day. I'm reading books written about Japanese custom of wedding ceremony and how to act better when I wear kimono. There are many small staff I didn't know. For example, how to sit down on a Zabuton and how to stand up. I don't think I can act properly just finish reading these books :( But I'm very exciting to go to the ceremony.

I've finished recording Steve's book fifth chapter last weekend. I think my Japanese is not very good compare with professionals. I couldn't pronounce naturally on some words, especially words which I don't use for my daily conversation. Sometimes I feel embracing my recording. However, I am a native Japanese and my Japanese is good enough to communicate. So, I don't mind too much about my recording result and I continue to recording his book. It's actually a lot of fun and good opportunity to practice my Japanese :D

最近は週末の開いてる時間を使ってスティーブの本の日本語版音声をLingQにアップデートするために録音してます。今週、やっと序文が終わって本編に入ったんですが私の日本語は俳優さんとかナレーターさんにくらべるとかなりしょぼいです。やっぱり普段言わないことを言うのは舌がうまく回らないし読むペースとか一定に保てなくて気がつくと早口になってるし。まぁそんなこと言っても私は日本人で普段文章を読み上げた時に'なんて言ってるのか分からない'とは言われたことがないし、もっとうまくなった時にはやり直せばいい訳だし。とか言って実は結構録音は楽しいんです。今までに日本の民話とかも録音してみたんですが話自体が面白いし、特にスティーブの本は英語での印象しかなかったんで日本語で読み直すと新たな発見がいろいろあるし、日本語を読みあげるのは英語に比べたら全然お安い御用だし。というわけであんまり深く考えず自分のペースで録音を続けていこうと思います(笑。

My PC was dead and I lost all my data a month ago. The cause was sudden power outage even though, I used surge protector. I've bought an iMac and hard disk drive for buck up.
The worst part is I won't be able to update my ipod because I've lost all original audio book data, downloaded pod casts and contents. It's huge waste! I regret not having back up data. The only good thing is my online data such as this blog and LingQ were still I can access. Great!

1ヶ月前に私のPCは雷にうたれて帰らぬものとなってしまいました。iMacを買ってやっと使い慣れてきたところです。ネットで購入したオーディオブックのデータとかLingQのコンテンツとかすべてなくなっちゃいました。オリジナルのデータがなくなっちゃったからもうiPodのアップデートはできなくなっちゃうし。そんな中、ネットにあがっている私のブログとかLingQのデータがなくならなかったのだけは救いです。すばらしい！ショックから徐々に立ち直りつつあるのでブログも再開していこうかなという感じです。

I had been to Japan about two weeks. It’s been two years since I last went back to Japan. I return to Vancouver the day before yesterday. I woke up four o’clock in the morning today because of jet lag. The trip was awesome. I met my friends and spend my time with my family and I could go to sightseeing. I really enjoyed Japan. However my impression of Tokyo was a little complicate rather than two years ago. Tokyo has changed a lot very quickly. I want to write about my vacation in Japan if I have a time.

日本から帰ってきました。すごい時差ぼけで朝の４時に目が覚めてしまいました。今回の帰省は家族とのんびりも出来たし観光も出来たし変わっていく東京も見れてとっても印象深い２週間でした。せっかくなのでこれから旅日記でもぼちぼち書いていこうかなぁと思ってます。
